Aussie Aussie Aussie

On Wednesday 7th January our U15 girls, U17 boys and U17 girls took on the Australian Wanderers at Bishop Vesey School and Wyndley Leisure Centre. This year was the first time that the Wanderers brought 3 sides on tour - usually only 1 girls and 1 boys team are available for competitive matches.

The evening went really well and there was some fabulous hockey on show from both sides. The results were as follows:

  • The under 15 girls lost 7.0
  • The under 17 girls drew 0-0
  • The u17 boys won 2-0 (which was a special result considering it was the first time the boys had won in 3 years)

Each team captain was presented with a pennant from Sutton Hockey Club as a memento and each player of the match was awarded with a Sutton playing shirt. A big well done to all involved in the games and we hope that all players enjoyed themselves. Additionally, we would like to thank:

  • All the parents who helped to house the players overnight
  • Mark Perraton for organising the tour
  • Dave O'Brien for the delicious food at the clubhouse
  • Head Coach Mandy Davies and assistant coaches Sam Simms, Jonathan Phipps and Oliver Westbrook.

The Wanderers are due to play Lichfield on Thursday evening, then travel to Belgium, Holland and France before flying home in 2 weeks time.
