Please find below a summary of the discussion points at this month's committee meeting

Committee members:
Cath James, Sam Phipps, Eli Thomas, Sue Attridge, Becky Batsford, Kath Robinson, Nuala Yelland, Elaine Burns, Sandra Westbrook, Jess Webb, Karen Slater

Membership
• A number of players who have not yet paid subs for the new season, reminder that deadline to be eligible for selection is the 22nd September and that everyone should complete the membership form as well as paying the money to ensure we are GDPR compliant.

Captains & Teams
• Captains & vice captains have now been agreed, thank you to those people who have agreed to take on this role for the 2018-19 season
o Ladies 1s - Vicky Woolford & Eli Thomas
o Ladies 2s – Helen Durrans & Becky Florida-Hopson
o Ladies 3s - Emma Jones & Charlotte Middleton
o Ladies 4s – Tracey Hart & Emily George-Walker
o Ladies 5s - Lucy Dixon & Hayley Williamson
o Ladies 6a - Nicki Cole & Paula Maxwell
o Ladies 6b - Ellie Harris & Alice Manley
• Decision taken to form a 6a and 6b instead of a 6th & 7th team to balance the senior players, back to hockey players & juniors across the two teams and ensure everyone gets to play a good level of hockey

Training
• First 2 weeks have gone well based on feedback with a few areas identified to improve
• Please continue to give feedback to Kath via your captains

Indoor
• Club indoor training is now taking place every Thursday from 7-9pm at Sutton Girls school with all encouraged to attend.
• The aim of the session is to start with a few indoor skills and then move into small teams playing fun round robin games rotating on and off.
• Cost of the session is £3 a session or £18 for the full 7 weeks.

Fixtures & Umpires
• Fixtures are all now confirmed and can be found on the club website.
• We have a new club umpire called Geoff Stokes who has come from wasps & is experienced umpiring Warwickshire div 2, 3 & 4, please make him feel welcome!
• Some of our umpires have said they would like more feedback from the teams, captains to approach the umpires at the start of the game to agree on the approach.

Joint Club
• Key point of focus is the Langley project which is a new housing estate with a proposed new hockey pitch, request that everyone in the club shows their support for the project, more details can be found at the link https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/local-news/framework-details-6000-homes-langley-15138917

Fundraising
• Eli is working on both a bid for grant funding and a sponsorship pack which can be given out to all prospective sponsors showing what they could get for different tiers of sponsorship.
• Also planning to create some joint club 'stash' eg. stick grips branded with the joining club name & logo.

Socials
• Club day joint social went down well with good participation from the ladies club.
• Next social is on Saturday 13th October and is a quiz night at the club house, please add it to your diary.

Safeguarding
• Karen is reviewing the squads to make sure that someone is DBS checked & have completed the online safeguarding training in each squad and is happy to take on the responsibility.

Communications
• Website has been updated with joint club branding & latest club information, please check it out!
• Squads will be updated on the website in the next couple of weeks.
• Mail chimp & text distribution lists to be updated following the membership deadline.
• Please download the Pitchero app to receive latest club news, event reminders and notifications relevant to your team.

Facilities
• Concerns over the state of facilities at Vesey at Club day have been passed on to the school
• If you have further concerns please pass them on to Cath via your captains
