They win it for the 5th year in a row

To complete a weekend double of silverware, Sutton’s Strollers team at the Stone HC 4XI tournament won the trophy for the 5th year in a row (we think this means we get to keep it forever).

Playing on both grass and AstroTurf is the ultimate challenge of a player’s skills, requiring a switch in playing styles and technique throughout the day. Sutton coped well with the slippery conditions on the grass and opted to get to the pitch early for their games so as to attack down the hill.

The team also had the benefit of the Chris Ball mobile clubhouse, which kept the team out of the scorching Staffordshire sun whilst they took on ample referencing isotonic beverages.

Sutton won all three group games against Old Wulfs 3-0, North Stafford A 2-0 & our hospitable hosts Stone 3-0.

In the finals Strollers beat North Stafford A again, Newtown and drew the final game against North Stafford B 1-1 - the only goal conceded all day. Congratulations to captain Lee Medlicott for his decisive leadership, inspiring oratory and organisational skills.

A great day was had by all and the Strollers look forward to defending their title next year.
