Your chance to get up close to this incredible new trophy

Amazing news, the Hockey Women’s World Cup trophy is coming to the Sutton Coldfield Hockey Club stand at the Community Games. This is your chance to get up close with the actual trophy that we hope Sutton Coldfield golden girl (and former SCHC player) Laura Unsworth and the rest of the England team will be lifting on August 5th if they win the World Cup.

The trophy was originally a Quaich – a Scottish drinking bowl - was first presented to winners England in 1975 when the event was held in Edinburgh. That original bowl has just been extensively renovated and upgraded and 2018 is the first time it will be awarded in this beautiful new form. We think you will agree it looks stunning and its Celtic origins are clear to see, with stylised thistles around the base. Our thanks to England Hockey for giving us this opportunity.

Come and see the trophy at Wyndley Leisure Centre, 12-5pm on Saturday 7th July 2018. The Sutton Coldfield Hockey Club stand will be inside the running track.

We will also be running fun hockey sessions on the Astro pitch 12:30-2:00 and 1:30-3:00 for anyone who fancies becoming the next England Hockey superstar. The Community Games are fun and free for all the family.

The Hockey Women's World Cup starts in London on 21 July 2018 and the games are being shown live on BT Sport.
