Sutton Coldfield starting this game very strongly with a full press and lots of energy. For the first 10 minutes of the game, most of the play was concentrated in the Coalville half. Sutton created some good chances and eventually won their first short corner. Nick Brewill fired this towards the left hand post, the resulting save bounced up and Tom Williamson cleaned up to claim the first goal of the match. Sutton dropped off a little and Coalville then started to get into their stride.

Sutton Coldfield conceded about minutes before the half time whistle. With the restart, Sutton Coldfield once again upped the tempo, with some good energy shown in midfield and upfront. Chances started coming for the hosts and there were a few missed opportunities. Finally the hard work of the Sutton team paid off and Oliver Gassey produced a good finish to put Sutton ahead once again. The next goal was crucial – Coalville once again raised their game with some good strong passing and gutsy forward play. A short corner for Coalville just went wide of the post, and soon after they broke through again, this time securing an equaliser.

As Sutton legs started to fade, it was Coalville that pressed home their advantage. A shot was saved by Harry Garvey who dived on the floor – the resulting melee of sticks resulted in the ball landing to a Coalville striker, who frustratingly for Sutton put the ball away. Sutton were then unable to break down the Coalville defence, who now concentrated with all their men behind the ball. Coalville secure their second win of the season, while Sutton were left to contemplate how the game slipped from their fingers.

The season already promising to be a lot more challenging than last year, the club will be looking to this relatively young side to bounce back to take on Cov & North Warwick next week.
