Travelling away to Mansfield with a young side, Sutton maintain a cool head and secure their 5th league win of the season. It was a sluggish start by the away team and a lack of concentration led to an early goal by North Notts. This seemed to spur the Sutton side into action and all of a sudden the press started to work better and the 50:50 ball started to go Sutton's way. Sutton dominated the next passage of play, winning several short corners and testing the North Notts defence and keeper. Goals came from Jake Nicholls, Ralph Brocklebank and Pete Davie to give Sutton a 3-1 lead. The North Notts side fought hard and started to come back. They poached a further goal in the first half and almost made it 3-3; a short corner on the final whistle of the half was denied as the North Notts striker hit the ball directly into the net. 3-2 to Sutton at half time.
Sutton have consistently been a second half team, and with the fitness of the young side paying off with numerous counter attacks that menaced the North Notts defence. Sutton also remained composed on the ball and kept hold of possession well. Their patience paid off and further goals were added by Sam Hardman, Ben Green and Isaac Mackay. North Notts did manage to score one more, initially saved by Harry Garvey, the resultant scrap for the ball ultimately led to North Notts forcing one more in. The game was already won however and Sutton clinch the away points they need.
