Summary minutes from the meeting

Junior Section

  • Thanks to everyone who attended the recent Junior Celebration Event and congratulations to all the award winners. There have been many notable achievements for our junior teams this season:-
  • U10 Boys - 3rd in Warwickshire, U10 Girls - 2nd in Warwickshire, 2nd in Midlands, U12 Boys - 2nd in Warwickshire, 6th in Midlands & U12 Girls - 1st in Warwickshire, 2nd in Midlands.
  • U16 Boys T1 Championship Supraleague National finalists with a fantastic 4th place finish.
  • Congratulations to the U18 Boys and Girls who were both National T1 Plate winners.
  • SCHC’s Talent Certification Developer, Henry Harrison, from England Hockey attended Junior Training on 1st March and has given very positive feedback about the club.
  • Summer Sunday sessions at Vesey from 14th June to July 19th. Information has been sent out via Pitchero.

Senior Section

  • Congratulations to the Women’s O35s who won the EH Tier 1 Cup Competition for the 3rd successive year.
  • Summer league is now well underway with 3 men’s and 2 women’s teams competing. Monday evening mixed vets hockey has also started at Lichfield. Good luck to everyone who is playing throughout the summer.
  • On Saturday 9th May, over 100 hockey players came together for the MT10 ‘10s for Taylor’ tournament raising over £2000 for The Brain Tumour charity.
  • Summer sessions will run from Sunday 26th July and throughout August 10-11:30am at Vesey, (ages 13+).
  • League start date for 2026-27 season is Saturday 19th September.
  • Looking to offer GK-specific coaching for senior players next season.

Socials & Clubhouse

  • Thank you to everyone who attended The Gala Ball on Saturday 9th May at Aston Wood Golf Club. We are thrilled to share that £2000 was raised for both of this year’s nominated charities - LAM Action (https://lamaction.org) and Grow Family Services (https://www.growfamilyservices.org).
  • Next year’s Ball is booked at Aston Wood for Saturday 8th May 2026 - put the date in your diary now!
  • A new ladies toilet, disabled toilet, kitchenette with small store & new boiler have now been completed at the clubhouse. Thank you to everyone involved in securing the funding for and making the improvements.

Discussion Forum

  • Thank you to everyone who attended the club’s first Discussion Forum in March and for the valuable contributions made. A summary of the discussions is being shared alongside these minutes.
  • Following the forum, the club is looking to acknowledge volunteers with the option of a voucher enabling on and/or off pitch kit items to be purchased at a discounted price.
  • A further suggestion has brought about a new award - the Volunteer’s Award - to acknowledge behind the scenes as well as more visible contributions from our volunteers, to be presented at the AGM each year.

Finance, Subscriptions and Kit

  • A subscriptions proposal will be brought to the AGM, with some categories amalgamated.
  • We are hoping to have kit available to view and purchase at the AGM. Stock ordered for next season.

Umpires

  • Thanks to all those who attended the Umpires Forum held in March. The importance of using radios was discussed as well as aerial ball rules among other topics. There is a plan to have an umpire event at the start of each season going over new rules, and for captains/coaches to then disseminate to teams.
  • There will be a record of games officiated by our umpires which will include the level of the games.

AOB

  • Flyerz, looking to offer summer weekend sessions and surveying participants for best times and dates.
  • Back2Hockey sessions will run on 2nd, 9th, 16th August 9-10am at Vesey. Please share with anyone who you think would like to attend.
  • Sutton Coldfield Community Games, 12 - 5pm, Saturday 11th + Sunday 12th July at Wyndley. Please contact comms@suttoncoldfieldhc.co.uk if you are able to help out on the hockey stand for a couple of hours on either the Saturday or Sunday.

Dates of Core Committee Meetings for 2025/26 Season:-

  • Mondays 8 September, 6 October; 3 November; 5 January; 2 February; 2 March; 1 June.

AGM: Monday 29 June, 7 for 7:30pm at the Clubhouse. All members welcome.
