Welfare

• Sutton’s Club Welfare Officer, Karen Slater, delivered the online Safeguarding and Welfare Training on 7th September. Thank you to Karen and all those who joined the call live. The recording has since been shared with the captains, coaches, umpires and club officials not able to attend on the 7th.
• The ppt slides (with a link to the video on the first slide) are saved in the Welfare and Safeguarding section of the website.

Junior Section

• Junior Hockey returned on Sunday 6th September, with good numbers and enthusiasm at both Wyndley and Vesey. There is also some mid-week junior training starting on Thursdays at Vesey.
• Good luck to all teams playing EH Super League and Midlands matches over the coming weeks.

Senior Section

• The first league matches take place on Saturday 19th September. Good luck to all teams for the season ahead.
• EH competitions - the club has entered the Men’s Cup/O35s/O45s and Women’s O35s/O45s competitions.

Finance & Subscriptions

• Thank you to everyone who has already set up their 2026/27 membership subscriptions. A reminder that to be eligible for selection for matches and to attend training, subs need to be paid. If there are any issues, please contact Leigh Dudley (Men), Liv Dunnington (Women) and Sam Syner (Juniors).

Clubhouse, Teas and Socials

• On Saturday 10th October, all seven women’s teams are playing at home! With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, there will be a Breast Cancer charity event to coincide with the women’s matches.
• Quiz night on Friday 20th November and a Christmas Social on Saturday 12th December, both at the Clubhouse. Make a note of the dates! More details to follow.
• We are also organising a Volunteers’ Meal for this half of the season and will share details of the date and menu once confirmed. A huge thank you to all our volunteers.

Kit

• A large quantity of equipment has been ordered for use across all three club sections. Please ensure all players take responsibility for looking after and collecting equipment back in at the end of hockey sessions.
• Thank you to Dan Welch and those who helped tidy the Vesey lock up - the swap shop items are now in labelled boxes. Donations of kit for the swap shop are always welcome, and do have a look if you might be interested in swap shop items.

AOB

• SCHC is hosting an Umpires Event on Monday 28th September, 7pm start, at the clubhouse. Everyone is welcome. In particular we would encourage all umpires + captains and coaches to attend, if available next Monday.
• A reminder about the ANPR cameras that are now in place at Wyndley - please remember to enter your car registration in the machines in the leisure centre for 4 hours free parking.
• We are keen to encourage more performance players to support other areas of club and junior coaching. If you would like to get involved or have ideas about ways to encourage players, please speak to your club captains.
