Back on home turf for game seven the mighty pinks lined up against their most local of rivals league newbies Olton.

Fairbrother’s fun fact to kick us off and this week it was by sight, which is there more of… stars in the universe or sand grains on earth.

The squash courts saw the return of familiar faces this week, even though those faces didn’t recognise all this weeks mighty pinks. Hugs all round - sort of. And even more hugs followed later too - but not Vicky she doesn’t do hugs.

Straight into the action and Sutton started with a bang. 5minutes in and they won a penalty corner. Neatly converted by top scorer Sophie Manning… joking it was of course Emma McCabe.

McCabe then doubled her tally 5minutes later after Mez slotted her in from a pressing turnover. Some pretty snazzy hockey on show.

Olton got one back before the end of the first quarter through a penalty corner. 2-1.

Second quarter started much like the first. Some great build up play by Sutton, winning high in the press and keeping the ball well at the back.

McCabe completed her hat trick from a truly silky move. Groves slapped a sideline down to BP who first timed it on to Elo. Elo then carried to the baseline and slipped it back to the penalty spot for McCabe to finish.

More chances came and went for Sutton who could’ve been in double figures.

Mollie was untouchable unless players wanted a card. Susan had the midfield in her pocket. The forward line were creating a pressing masterclass. It’s amazing what happens when you put training into practice - highly recommend.

Second half came around and it was more of the same. A quick counter from the mighty pinks through Mollie, saw her also find McCabe on the penalty spot to claim her fourth of the game.

Olton then got on the scoreboard again. 4-2. Nice assist from Manning.

Final quarter and not to be boring but by this point for the defence it kind of was. Most exciting thing was Jo getting shouted at by Sue for getting the ball back too quick.

BP went on a green card but then redeemed herself immediately by scoring two. One from a Groves cross that she stopped and slotted home. The next from picking off an Olton outlet, striking the keeper and then hitting the rebound home.

Olton wanted to have the last word scoring again to make it 6-3. But the game was won and everyone but Olton were very happy.

POM went to McCabe for her four goals. DOD went to Freya for an amalgamation of things. Fairbrother’s fun fact answer was Stars… the number was given but you can Google that yourself.

Next week the girls head to Wales for the Swansea away game. Big pressure after it was last year’s best game of the season.
