Rain, Reactions and really early wake ups

Fairbrother’s fun fact this week asked what country has the most castles per square mile?

With an earlier meet time it meant the team had some early alarms Saturday morning. But everyone remembered their sticks this time so that’s a positive.

A pregame walk limbered up the legs after the long journey. Only a walk though as despite her many times of asking Flo did not get to go for a pre game swim.

Just in time for push back the rain kicked in. Swansea proved early on that they didn’t deserve to be near the bottom of the table. Their defence was strong and held firm against Sutton’s pressure.

Sutton held strong too. Sue did sue things continuing to be a midfield menace. BM kept things tight. Manning distributed well.

It took a penalty corner for the visitors to break the deadlock as McCabe fired home what would turn out to be the only goal of the game. 1-0.

A formation change allowed Sutton to push for more but to no avail.

Mollie and Flo dominated the right, whilst the Peers sisters ran the left. Swansea held firm, despite their forwards losing the plot. Although Sutton were the ones to pick up the only card of the game too.

A bit of back and forth, row your boat style hockey took place but despite no whistles for 8 minutes, nothing much eventful happened. As was the singular goal kept the three points for Sutton.

POM went to BM and DOD Groves. Fairbrothers fun fact answer was Wales, perfectly timed for this game… some would say planned.

Sutton now face Durham in their last home game of 2023 in a 2nd versus 3rd place game.
