Ready for another long away day, the mighty pinks were up north to face all of Manning’s friends.

Fairbrother’s fun fact for this week was which bird is the only bird to not have eyeballs? And to clarify… a bat is not a bird – isn’t that right Enya.

A slight switch up in cars this week as we had a last minute injury call up meaning the family wagon was in full flow with a nap time back seat. EP had her first experience of the luxury travel Vicky offers. And manning took the rest of the riff raff.

Only one manager this week, thank god, and Ann was greeted with plenty of we miss yous. But Andy danced his way through and enjoyed the questions of what cooking utensil would you be and what fruit? Catching up on the usual away day car chat.

Manning and Groves also both spent more time socialising with the opposition than the team, but its okay… they’ve just never laughed like that with us.

Onto the game and the starting line up saw Scarlett step in for injured BM, lining up alongside Manning. Their second mentoring session of the season.

The game started out quite shakily with both teams having quick attacks. But it was Sutton and McCabe that drew first blood, well no actually Freya started bleeding first as the scratchy pitch took its toll. A silky move was finished off rather scrappily to secure a 1-0 lead.

McCabe then doubled the lead through a penalty corner strike. The call was back to the injector but Manning didn’t want to score past her friends so let McCabe take the glory. 2-0.

Mollie continued her flying form from the week before, sprinting past everyone. In fact hard shifts were put in across the pitch, no standing still here.

Ben Rhydding scored a very clean PC strike in the second half to make it 2-1. Beating Jo who had squashed every other sniff until then.

Flo evolved into a fully flourished right back having a stormer of a day out. Clearly a pregame nap is the way to go. However, both her and Freya had unfortunate encounters with the umpires, with Freya having a full out of body experience.

Not much more happened during the game, so it ended 2-1. Sutton staying top and proving they can win dirty or clean.

Postgame teas were a delight and saw us crown Sue POM for another midfield masterclass playing the full 70 ahead of O35s the next day. DOD went to Enya again, despite an attempt to stitch up Vicky, for forgetting cake. And Fairbrother’s fun fact answer was Owl, something about how they spin their heads etc.

Sutton return home to play Stourport this week in the half term battle of the titans. We hope to see you there.
