Snipers, Short corners and Straight to the top (of the table)

We’re back. Outdoor that is. And with a Fairbrother’s fun fact to kick us off… What weighs more ants or humans?

The infamous squash court pre-game returned too. Minus any hot drinks as the urn was forgotten, a few times. Not that it was noticed by the multitude of managers in the pre-game meeting.

Pink kit on and ready to go. Some more than others, but none more so than Flo who warmed up in everything including her gumshield. Time to give the students a run around or for us to get one.

The first quarter kicked off with some fast breaks from the students. Which Sutton countered with their own. BP got an early shot off, as did Elo with some silky skills in the circle.

Durham found some early good fortune from aerials, but their chances were squashed. But Sutton saw some changes to the defensive line as Scarlett swapped in and Flick made her season debut. Both of whom then slotted in perfectly continuing to make Durham frustrated.

However Durham eventually got the breakthrough. A quick counter. An overload. Nothing too special.

It remained 1-0 until the final quarter. Between that not much happened.

Durham picked up a few cards for being stroppy students. Jo made some more saves. Sue did some more Sue things. Debutant Enya showed that she was happier in pink running around to her hearts content/ not fully understanding the press yet.
Fourth quarter though was were all the action was.

A Durham counter was shut out by some defensive work. Passes were threaded and Freya found herself battling her way into the circle winning a corner.

Then… in the most anti Sutton form. They scored said corner. Through a Mezza second phase.

But the next goal. Well… from a hit out Manning played in Enya who sent it out right to Groves. Who on a diving stretch managed to keep the ball in and play it down the line. Mezza then went full Mollie and darted down the right with pace. Carrying along the baseline to win another corner. This time beautifully scrambled home by Freya.

Talk about a team goal.

And with that saw the end of the game. Oh no wait sorry. The final drama. Manning got snipered in the collarbone. Dramatically dropping to the floor. Only to calmly tell everyone she was fine and manager 1,2 and 3 could stand down.

POM went to BP for some hard yards. DOD was shared between Flo and Manning, Flo will happily discuss why she was voted. Manager of the Day is still TBC. And sassy pants Fairbrothers fun fact was ants… clarification can be made.
