The Men's 1s came into their fourth league fixture with an unbeaten start but also still chasing their first victory. Fellow Mids Prem side from last year Lboro Town were looking for their second victory so both sides had plenty to play for in the evening fixture at Fortress Wyndley.

The home side started well, moving the ball round the back, connecting with forwards well and some early penalty corners gave hope for an early lead but no goal materialised (uh oh...deja vu anyone). The difference this week as the half progressed was preventing the opposition from taking the lead so when Sutton did get two penalty corners towards the end of the half, they were able to take a strong 2-0 lead into halftime. The first was an expertly placed Goose flick. The second, on the stroke of half time, was an even more expertly placed Goose flick into the top corner of the net (Top Bins some might say).

Coach Sam's half time team focused on maintaining the positives and not switching off (there's a bit of form this season with letting 2 goal leads slip!) His players were also keen to impress upon him in return that they were confused why he hadn't done a slightly underwhelming aerial attempt with his first touch on the pitch like in his debut.

The second half continued in a similar manner to the first. Good Sutton play and pressure leading to turnovers and more chances. One such occasion had the ball fall to the ex-fastest man in Sutton Sam H who coolly reverse pushed it past the keeper at the near post to get his goalscoring campaign off the ground, sadly after removing himself from his fantasy team. In an additional cruel blow to Sam H's previous speed claims...he's now arguably only the third fastest Sam in the team let alone the wider Sutton locality.

GK Ray, not wanting to feel left out, was up to the task whenever called upon...and even when he wasn't called upon such as when he decided rather than clear the ball or leave it entirely, he would Cruyff turn the ball into his own goal much to everyone's bemusement.
Skill execution: 10/10.
Choosing to execute the skill: 0/10.
Umpires not believing he would have chosen to do it on purpose so long corner awarded: 10/10.

Player of the match went to Goose. Special mentions to Sheff who spent 70 minutes running round the pitch trying to find Miles and Sam H for his less than conventional hot dog eating method. Well done to Ryan for his new found baking skills and to Dom Leaf for last week's flapjack. Will the next match's baker be up to the standard?

M1 next league fixture sees them travel cross city to the University of Birmingham, with both teams separated by a single point, a great contest is expected.
