3s could’ve won this one

M3 feel unfortunate to have come away from Warwick with nothing after a close game.

Sutton had the majority of possession in the first half but it was Warwick who scored the only goal in the first half. M3 failed to clear a ball on several occasions as the home team built up pressure, eventually a forward got the ball unmarked at the top of the D and put a well aimed shot into the far corner.

In the second half Sutton continued to press and forced a number of short corners and it was from one of these that they equalised, the ball was slipped left and Ben Ellis scored when the ball was played back in.

It was a short corner goal that settled the game. Sutton remain convinced the shot that went in was the first from the short corner and should have been disallowed as it went in well over the backboard. The umpires consulted and decided that it was not the first shot on goal.

It could have been three when Warwick got another short corner and the strike was heading for the corner, but Bill Heywood dived to his right and tipped the ball around the post.

M3 threw everything at Warwick to try and get the equaliser but they could not find another goal. They go into the Christmas break in 7th place in South West Premier division on 13 points.
