Alex “tinsel” Hinsley won the toss. Push back in the Christmas jungle was ours. Team talk decision pre-game was to push back to the defence.... first pass went to midfield. Passing and pushing forward as a team, Rosie “Christmas tree” Calderbank did an excellent pass down the line to Evy “elf” Maidment’s excellently placed stick who passed it across the D perfectly to the p spot where Liv “grinch” Harrison excentlly megged the keeper to go 1-0 up. Buzzing from the first goal we set up to face them again. On an elated cloud we managed to get distracted and ended up with a short against us. The great defensive wall set up and Sam “Rudolph” Richardson ran and annihilated the first strike from the D. Some more shorts followed and a few longs. And as with any good story there was a low point and Olton managed to win a short again and put the ball in the back of the net, despite Subo “Claus” Attridge, Hayley “holly” Williamson and Lou “lights” Worledge’s team effort. 1-1.
But we managed to battle ahead with Lucy “angel” Dixon, Nuala “mistletoe” Yelland, Amy “bauble” Lowe, Saoirse “star” Canning, and Lucy “cracker” Corker fighting hard in the midfield and tracking up the field with Lucy ”cracker” finding the back of the net to go 2-1 up. Half time.
We came out strong and Nuala “mistletoe” quickly found the back of the net. 3-1. Subo “Claus” managed to save the ball on the line to stop us going down again. Then another short against us in which Olton managed to get another goal. Some more hockey was played for a little bit. And as the full time whistle went we kept the win 3-2 to Sutton 4s.
Goals from Liv, Lucy C and Nuala. With team votes across the Board for MOM but Sam “Rudolph” Richardson claimed the title.
Thanks to our excellent supporters. Notable mention to Emily “not so Virgin Mary” and baby George on the sides.
Written by Chloe “donkey” Cherry who did a little defending and mostly shouting.
