This match proved to be a complete team performance. Once the objective of securing 3 points had been achieved early in the first half, the task of overhauling our goal difference deficit of 5 with our rivals at the top, Hampton-in-Arden 5s, was delivered.

The commitment of the whole team in winning the ball back meant that the opposition struggled to get out of their own half and led to an onslaught on their goal.

The energy shown by youngsters Tom Hughes, Jack Wakefield, Matt Cole and Dylan Mayne was impressive. Equally, Dan Branch and, man of the match, Mark Bannister bossed the middle of the park. This lead to a relatively quiet afternoon for the defence, with Luke Beveridge recording a clean sheet between the sticks, protected by the able defence of Paul Collins, Craig Massey and Matt Jones.

With Dylan Mayne's impressive form continuing, it was great to see the goals shared between Dylan Mayne 4, Tony Smith 2, Jack Wakefield 2, Rob McLeish 1 and Matt Cole 1.

Thanks go to Doug Cave for masterminding this performance. With the 3 top teams all on the same points, the final match of the season will determine who will be crowned champions. In a fitting climax, we play Hampton-in-Arden 5s at Bishop Vesey at 4pm. All support will be welcome!
