After a very even 1 st half, Sutton knew they had a battle on their hands after conceding a bad goal just before the break. And this became even clearer early in the 2 nd half, as Stafford piled on the pressure. Keeper Cotterill and his valiant defenders somehow survived a
seemingly never ending series of short corners, however, and slowly, but surely Sutton took control of the game, with its youngsters enthusiastically leading the charge for the equaliser. This eventually came through Steve Elliott’s 6th of the season, after which, there was only going to be one winner. Desperate defending and alert keeping, however, meant that Sutton had to be content with the one
hard earned point.
