100 marathons in 100 days

SCHC Comms30 May 2022 - 06:49

Now going for 106!

Running one marathon is an amazing feat, running 100 in 100 days is nothing short of super-human! That is what ex-mighty pink, Fay Cunningham and her partner Emma Petrie from www.matchmyworkout.com, have just done!
Yesterday they completed the Edinburgh marathon and are now going for 6 more! They are aiming to break the world record for the most consecutive marathons completed.

They are raising money for the MND Assocation and Macmillan Cancer Support. Please donate if you are able at https://www.collectionpot.com/pot/mmw/
and you can read more about their motivations below.

MMW 100 Marathons in 100 Days
Who are we?
We are Fay & Emma – two female personal trainers who are in love with fitness, the outdoors and each other. We are the dream team! Based in the Cairngorms, we run a fitness business together called Match My Workout which includes group training sessions, personal training and online training programmes. We also have a YouTube channel where we attempt challenges set by elite athletes so we can push our limits and see what our bodies can do!

Why 100 Marathons in 100 Days?
Running is a huge part of our lives. We both love to run, always have and hopefully always will. It’s how we got to know each other so well and then fall in love! We also consider ourselves to be very fortunate, as at the moment we can run while knowing that privilege can easily be taken away.

Why MND & Macmillan?
Fay’s dad recently passed away from MND & Frontal Dementia and Emma’s mum passed away from cancer two years ago. We both know all too well that life is short and the ability to run or walk doesn’t always stay with you forever. Before their respective illnesses, they were both fit, active people and were instrumental in how we both became who we are today. We would like to use this challenge to support these two fantastic charities, who do invaluable work supporting those affected.

What do we want to achieve?
1. To raise as much money as possible for MND & Macmillan – £100,000 is our target.
2. Break the world record for the most consecutive marathons completed.
3. Inspire as many people as possible to get outdoors, be active and see what their bodies can do.
4. The impossible! We want to do this together for us and to honour both Em’s mum & Fay’s dad who have been faced with impossible life challenges.
