Our very own Peter Westbrook won a special award at the UK coaching awards in Leeds on Tuesday 6th December, as part of the coaching chain that has made Laura Unsworth GB’s most decorated hockey athlete

Peter was in exalted company with the other top coaches at the event. Laura thanked him fulsomely for getting her started in hockey as part of a video shown at the event

Whilst the award was for Peter’s part as Laura’s very first coach, what is also important is that she was one of many hundreds of children who have got their first experience of hockey with Peter as their coach

Whilst not every child has gone on to win Olympic gold, many of them have developed a life long love of hockey and that is a great achievement also
