After a disappointing performance last week, L5 were back to their best against Shipston with a 3-0 win.
Having lost the away game earlier in the season, L5 were determined to show how much they have improved and from the very beginning they played with skill, pace and imagination to leave an experienced Shipston team chasing shadows and resorting to long hopeful balls from the back.
After going close to scoring on several occasions, it was girl of the game Letty who broke the deadlock halfway through the 1st half with a sweep home after good work on the left from Caitlin and some close control in the D from Megan.
L5 stretched the lead a few minutes later when Cath drove home from a well worked short corner to give them a 2-0 half time lead that was the least they deserved.
If anything, L5s dominance increased as the 2nd half wore on and they ratcheted up the pressure on Shipston’s defence. Every attack promised another goal and whenever Shipston did manage to break out of their half, the defence, expertly marshalled by Sarah mopped up, and launched another attack.
Letty once again was on the spot to score following a good pull back from the goal line and from then on the result was beyond doubt.
This was a real team performance. Everywhere you looked L5 players were taking the game to the opposition, pressing with intensity, moving the ball with pace and giving their all for the team. A pleasure to watch and a well deserved win.
